Beautifully made: Shoulder straps featuring vivid patterns and colors Where the hand-woven ribbons come from that we use to make shoulder straps for our shoulder bags? Mostly from the Baltic countries, e.g. from Lithuania, where the traditional comb weaving has come back to a certain bloom, or from Ukraine. The ribbons are woven in traditional patterns and colors, and they originally are part of the regional costumes, where they make belts or sashes.
To give them the required strength, we reinforce the bands, e.g. with leather, where necessary. And of course, we attach short leather straps carefully sewn by hand at the ends to attach the strap to the shoulder bag. They come with solid metal parts and with a buckle to adjust the length quite easily.
We get the ribbons from small artisan manufacturers and in limited quantities. They are never exactly the same, the colors and patterns change, and the basic material is sheep’s wool. So the pictures we provide here are only examples. Feel free to ask us which ribbons we currently have available in our workshop.
