Narrow leather sandal with two straps. The Sahara sandal is available in various designs, with the model featured on this page designed with two parallel straps made of suede leather tanned in Eichenlohe. Depending on the number of straps, the sandal can be crafted differently – with one, two, or three straps. With two straps, it is lighter as it covers less skin while remaining sturdy.
The asymmetrically placed straps across the instep of this sandal provide a secure and above-average fit. A notable feature of this sandal is the heel, where the loose ends of the straps are woven, making buckles unnecessary. Furthermore, the Sahara 2 Strap Velour sandal is equipped with a high-quality insole made of 3-4mm thick, vegetable-tanned leather from Eichenlohe. This special leather not only offers exceptional durability but also provides a comfortable wearing experience. It regulates sweat formation and keeps your feet fresh and dry. The slightly roughened surface of the outsole provides better grip and prevents the occurrence of cracks, even after prolonged wear.
The traditional tanning technique with oak bark gives the leather a unique structure, providing the Sahara 2 Strap Velour sandal with additional robustness and stability. In the Sahara sandal, the straps run freely under the foot through the sole construction and remain adjustable. Thanks to this special strap arrangement, we can keep the sole relatively narrow, giving Sahara a lighter and more dynamic feel on the foot. Despite this, the sandal remains durable and robust.
You can order SAHARA 2 STRAP VELOUR online or visit our workshop store in Freiburg.
We use vegetable tanned leather we dye ourselves in different colors and shades. Because we make each model only to order, you can always select the color.
For online ordering, we only offer a limited range of colors; you can always find the color swatches on the online catalog page of the respective sandal model. When you order in our workshop, the color range is larger.
Apart from that, we have photographed the models for this online catalog in just one color mostly. If you browse the entire collection, you will get an idea of the other colors.
When you wear the sandals, the leather will develop its own patina over time, becoming darker. It is difficult to say how strong this effect will be. So, if in doubt, choose the leather a little brighter.
Please keep in mind: Each hide takes the color on in its own way, each dyeing process goes a little bit differently. And as to how your display or monitor shows the colors: we have no influence on that. Color deviations can therefore occur and are not per se a fault. If you want to be sure, take a look at the leather for your sandal in person at our store & workshop.
We process high quality outsoles in different colors. Which sole we should use for your sandal, you decide yourself.

Beratung in unserer Werkstatt.
Advice in our workshop. Of course, you can just come to the workshop and get all advice you might need. However, if you want to order a pair of sandals or shoes, we recommend that you make an appointment so that we make sure we have enough time for you. The appointment can also be arranged outside our opening hours (Monday to Friday 3.00 to 6.00 p.m.). Please allow 20 to 30 minutes for normal needs.
Once you have made your decision, we ask you to stand on a so-called foot-impression-box with both feet one after the other. This is a kind of footprint kit that shows us just where you normally put weight on your feet. We also draw the foot outline for both feet.
In the course of this, we also discuss the special requirements you may have for your feet. While we don’t make orthopedic shoes or sandals, and don’t do video or computer analysis of your gait or foot form, we will use our experience and expertise to address special needs.
Need some time: Handmade Sandals & Shoes Once we got your footprints, we can start to make your sandals or shoes. It’s handwork, and we do it on a first-come, first-served basis. We will give you an approximate appointment date for fitting or an estimated date for shipping, respectively. For some models – the ones you can not order online – we need you to visit us for a second appointment to fit the sandal or shoe.
