Classically Mexican – our rugged two-strap sandal Unlike the related Mexico model with three straps, here there are only two parallel straps that cross over the instep of the foot. A small modification only, but well visible. Especially with smaller sizes, Mexico dos looks more open and a little lighter with two (since Mexico dos) straps, without sacrificing the robust character of this leather sandal.

As with all our models that go by the name of Mexico, the straps are adjustable; so they can be fitted closely to the foot and also be readjusted if necessary. The ends of the straps are enlaced on the outside above the ankle in our “Mexican Joint”. They hold reliably even without a buckle and can also be adjusted in a few simple steps.

The sole of Mexico dos is a little wider than some of our other models, because here the straps are routed in a slightly other way. Overall, this sandal retains the rugged, durable character of its Mexican ancestors and also shares with them another important feature: Not only the outsole can be replaced once it is worn out, all other parts can be repaired as well. Which, however – and we have our experiences – will only be needed after a long time of extensive wearing.

MEXICO doss with its three straps can be ordered online or in our store & workshop in Freiburg.
  • Mexican style cross-strap sandal
  • Tailor made with footbed
  • Crossed straps make for a very good fit
  • Robust, but open in character
  • With somewhat wider sole
  • Straps remain adjustable

Notes on:

We use vegetable tanned leather we dye ourselves in different colors and shades. Because we make each model only to order, you can always select the color.

For online ordering, we only offer a limited range of colors; you can always find the color swatches on the online catalog page of the respective sandal model. When you order in our workshop, the color range is larger.

Apart from that, we have photographed the models for this online catalog in just one color mostly. If you browse the entire collection, you will get an idea of the other colors.

When you wear the sandals, the leather will develop its own patina over time, becoming darker. It is difficult to say how strong this effect will be. So, if in doubt, choose the leather a little brighter.

Please keep in mind: Each hide takes the color on in its own way, each dyeing process goes a little bit differently. And as to how your display or monitor shows the colors: we have no influence on that. Color deviations can therefore occur and are not per se a fault. If you want to be sure, take a look at the leather for your sandal in person at our store & workshop.

We use high quality outsoles in different colors. Which sole we should put on your sandal, you decide yourself. Of course, the color of the sole also affects the look of the sandal to a certain extent. You can go for contrast, for example with a light sole to a dark leather color, or choose a more low-key combination. Of course, the sole material also has an effect. When making your selection, keep in mind where you will normally wear your sandals. In the order of images: Soles 1, 2, 3 and 6 are made of high quality rubber. They are wear-resistant and rugged. Rubber is somewhat stiffer and therefore also makes the sole a little more rigid than, for example, EVA. The black sole No. 1 has quite a marked profile, which once again increases the grip. Sole No. 6 also offers very good grip thanks to its tread, while at the same time it is somewhat more supple thanks to added fine cork granules and has a more sportive look. This sole goes well with the lighter leather colors. Sole No. 1 and 6  can be useful in certain situations, for example, if you walk a lot on natural trails. Soles No. 2 and 3 only differ in color. They are rather flat and are more suitable on paved ways. Soles 4 and 5 have a higher EVA content. EVA is a proven, particularly lightweight sole material. EVA soles are more flexible than rubber, so they provide a more comfortable walking experience. What’s more, our EVA soles are a bit thicker than the rubber ones, enhancing the light cushioning effect.

BERATUNG, BESTELLUNG, SANDALEN

Beratung in unserer Werkstatt.

ADVICE, ORDER, SANDALS

Advice in our workshop. Of course, you can just come to the workshop and get all advice you might need. However, if you want to order a pair of sandals or shoes, we recommend that you make an appointment so that we make sure we have enough time for you. The appointment can also be arranged outside our opening hours (Monday to Friday 3.00 to 6.00 p.m.). Please allow 20 to 30 minutes for normal needs.

Once you have made your decision, we ask you to stand on a so-called foot-impression-box with both feet one after the other. This is a kind of footprint kit that shows us just where you normally put weight on your feet. We also draw the foot outline for both feet.

In the course of this, we also discuss the special requirements you may have for your feet. While we don’t make orthopedic shoes or sandals, and don’t do video or computer analysis of your gait or foot form, we will use our experience and expertise to address special needs.

Need some time: Handmade Sandals & Shoes Once we got your footprints, we can start to make your sandals or shoes. It’s handwork, and we do it on a first-come, first-served basis. We will give you an approximate appointment date for fitting or an estimated date for shipping, respectively. For some models – the ones you can not order online – we need you to visit us for a second appointment to fit the sandal or shoe.
