A bespoke sandal with Levantine lightness Characteristic of the leather sandal Haifa from the Sandal Workshop Freiburg is the strap crossed twice over the instep and adjustable without buckle. The strap is tightened during the first fitting so that it fits the foot exactly. If necessary, it can be tightened and readjusted at any time. Of course, with this as with our other models we do not dispense with the careful processing of the leather and our cork footbed, which we make according to your footprint.

With its naming we have placed this model in the Levant, drawing less on historical sandal models than on the light-heartedness of the Levantine way of life. In fact, Haifa looks very light on the foot especially in the lighter leather colors, even though the sole construction is as durable and sturdy as all of our strap sandals. The somewhat narrower strap well closes around the foot, the sandal holds reliably and does not fit too loose.

As concerns everyday wearability, you don’t have to compromise on this sandal. Even if the casual leisure look might not let you expect it: Wearing Haifa, you will also walk longer distances very comfortably. Where, again, the anything but common robustness of our handcrafted sandals comes into play.  And, if it should turn out necessary, we can repair or replace all parts.

You can order HAIFA only in our store & workshop in Freiburg.

Notes to:

We use vegetable tanned leather we dye ourselves in different colors and shades. Because we make each model only to order, you can always select the color.

For online ordering, we only offer a limited range of colors; you can always find the color swatches on the online catalog page of the respective sandal model. When you order in our workshop, the color range is larger.

Apart from that, we have photographed the models for this online catalog in just one color mostly. If you browse the entire collection, you will get an idea of the other colors.

When you wear the sandals, the leather will develop its own patina over time, becoming darker. It is difficult to say how strong this effect will be. So, if in doubt, choose the leather a little brighter.

Please keep in mind: Each hide takes the color on in its own way, each dyeing process goes a little bit differently. And as to how your display or monitor shows the colors: we have no influence on that. Color deviations can therefore occur and are not per se a fault. If you want to be sure, take a look at the leather for your sandal in person at our store & workshop.

Kastanie
Rot
Cognac
Mocca

MAKING AN APPOINTMENT

Instead of just reaching for the shelf: First, just have look at it. Usually, in a shoe store, you would just pick a pair of sandals in your regular size off the shelf and try them on. With us it’s different. We have samples in our store workshop for you to look at, but no range of finished sandals or shoes for you to try on. But of course you can have a good look at our models, here on the Internet or in our store & workshop.

Advice in our workshop. Of course, you can just come to the workshop and get all advice you might need. However, if you want to order a pair of sandals or shoes, we recommend that you make an appointment so that we make sure we have enough time for you. The appointment can also be arranged outside our opening hours (Monday to Friday 3.00 to 6.00 p.m.). Please allow 20 to 30 minutes for normal needs.

Once you have made your decision, we ask you to stand on a so-called foot-impression-box with both feet one after the other. This is a kind of footprint kit that shows us just where you normally put weight on your feet. We also draw the foot outline for both feet.

In the course of this, we also discuss the special requirements you may have for your feet. While we don’t make orthopedic shoes or sandals, and don’t do video or computer analysis of your gait or foot form, we will use our experience and expertise to address special needs.

Need some time: Handmade Sandals & Shoes Once we got your footprints, we can start to make your sandals or shoes. It’s handwork, and we do it on a first-come, first-served basis. We will give you an approximate appointment date for fitting or an estimated date for shipping, respectively. For some models – the ones you can not order online – we need you to visit us for a second appointment to fit the sandal or shoe.
